The rumor of big hairy manapes roaming the wilderness
is being heard in some places around the world. There is the Yeti of the
himalaya, Bigfoot in the USA, Sasquatch in Canada, Wookies an Kashyyyk... We seem to have a certain fascination about apelike creatures.

Science says there have been large apes in the past.
Giganthopithecus blacki going extinct about 100,000 years ago after having been
contemporary with (anatomically) modern humans (Homo sapiens) for tens of thousands of years, and co-existing with H. erectus before the appearance of H. sapiens. It is believed that adult male Gigantopithecus blacki stood about 3 m (9.8 ft) tall and weighed as much as 540 kg. Maybe we have some kind of a racial memory about it inside of us ?
So what about a little diorama about yetis?
How to paint them?
And where to put them ?
I decided to make a little diorama with some kind of a cave, rocks and snow of course.
It's
made of styrofoam (i hope this is the correct english word for it), cut
with a sharp knife into the rough form. I made a base, two layers for the cave and one for the roof. To my surprise something happened when I used some black
color spray to prime it. The color spray dissolved some parts of the
surface, forming very nice sructures, which look pretty neat.
How to let it snow ?
I
put pva glue on some parts of the surface and applied some baby powder
on it. This is a pretty dusty procedure, so be careful not to get fine
white powder all over the room. Maybe I will fix the surface later on
with some matte spray, but I will try this on some test materials
first.
